At Hunt Mountain Kennels, we strive to produce the best hunting Large Munsterlanders possible by selecting the dams and sires with pedigrees, hunting skills and overall performance that will help to assure that outcome.
Dogs are also selected for their disposition, hip quality, and conformation to the F.C.I. standard. We have imported two males from Germany, Wido vom Wiesengrund, aka "Raven," and Cosmos von Lilienthal, aka “Coz”, and both have been outstanding in the field and as sires.
To date, Hunt Mountain Kennels has whelped five litters and all five have received Progeny Performance Awards from the breed club (LMCNA). Our males, “Raven” and “Coz” have also sired two litters for other American breeders and both of those litters earned Progeny Performance Awards as well. Seven litters, seven PPA’s! No other LM breeder in North America can make that claim. In addition, Wido vom Wiesengrund is the sire of the FIRST and ONLY American born NAVHDA Versatile Champion Large Munsterlander, VC Timberland’s George, owned by Richard Sutherland of Tomahawk, Wisconsin.
Our planned “F” litter, expected in late February, will be a repeat of our "E" litter breeding between Hunt Mountain's Bemidji (15/03; NA 98 Prize III; Hips: excellent [sired by "Raven"]) and Cosmos von Lilienthal (ZGM 59/04; NA 107 Prize I; Hips: good). We expect that these pups will follow the previous litters in hunting desire and ability.
We enjoy talking to the man or woman who “carries the gun” and only place pups into avid hunting homes. We like to know as much about you, your family, what you hunt and even about your yard as much as you should know about our LM’s, our breeding plans and what it takes to reserve a pup from our kennel, where “performance speaks much louder than promises.”
